Career Goals

My career goal after graduating is to be a faculty member in a research-intensive university to continue contributing to the field of LDT. As a researcher, I would like to continue conducting research on using emerging technology to augment learners’ foreign language learning outcomes and experiences.

​

Here below are the examples of tenure-track positions that I am interested in. At this moment, I am also open to post-doc positions that closely connect with my research interest and will contribute to my empirical scholarship.

Position 1 -

Assistant/Associate Professor in Instructional Systems and Learning Technologies

Florida State University

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a robust program of research in instructional systems and learning technologies, including publishing in top-tier journals

  • Mentor graduate students and advise doctoral dissertations

  • Pursue external funding opportunities

  • Develop and teach graduate-level courses in online, face-to-face, and blended learning environments

  • Play an integral role in collaborating with colleagues, students, and alumni to maintain a strong program community and identity

  • Provide leadership and service to the program, department, college, and profession

Qualifications

  • Earned a doctorate in Instructional Systems and Learning Technologies or closely related field from an accredited university

  • Have a clearly articulated research focus with a strong record of peer-reviewed publications, presentations, and external funding, as appropriate to time in field

  • Have experience teaching in online, blended and/or face-to-face settings and should be adept at teaching and designing instruction using a wide variety of learning technologies

Candidates for associate professor should have a strong body of empirical scholarship that is recognized and widely cited in the field and prior experience mentoring doctoral students. ABD candidates can be considered if they will have their degree conferred no later than August 2022.

  • Ability to teach courses in two or more of the following areas: instructional systems design, emerging technologies, learning analytics, performance improvement, program evaluation

  • Experience teaching a diverse and international student body

  • Demonstrated commitment to equity, ethics, and social justice

Position 2 -

Assistant Professor in Instructional Technology & Learning Sciences

Utah State University

Responsibilities

  • Participate in research, publication, grant writing, and other scholarly activities

  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in the areas of learning sciences and/or instructional technologies, including research methods

  • Serve on graduate student committees and advise graduate students

  • Engage with undergraduate students such as a research mentor or teaching fellow

  • Provide service to the department, college, university, profession, and community


Qualifications

  • Earned doctorate in Instructional Technology, Learning Sciences, Information Science, Educational Psychology, or a closely related field before starting appointment. ABD will be considered at the instructor level.

  • Potential to conduct and disseminate high-quality research

  • Potential to teach and mentor at the collegiate level

  • Potential to write successful funding proposals to support scholarly activities

Preferences

  • National reputation

  • Experience designing and developing educational materials, tools, or programs

  • Teaching experience at the collegiate level, particularly in online courses

  • Established record of conducting and disseminating high-quality research

  • Grant or contract proposal writing experience

  • Experience in online and distance education

Position 3 - 

Assistant/Associate Professor in Instructional Design, Development, and Evaluation

Syracuse University

Responsibilities

  • Pursuing a sustained research agenda along with seeking external grant funding

  • Teaching primarily graduate courses

  • Advising MS and Ph.D. students

  • Participating in service to Syracuse University, School of Education, IDD&E, and professional learning communities


Qualifications

  • Earned a doctorate in instructional design, instructional technology, or closely related field.

  • Expected to have extensive practical experiences in applied field-based design and program evaluation; at least two years of experiences in higher education or business/government, with desired experience in university teaching and student advisement

  • A strong research agenda related to instructional design

  • A proven record of scholarly publications, a professional network of domestic and international colleagues, and entrepreneurial leadership abilities

  • Expected to teach within IDD&E, pursue a research agenda, and provide service to the university, school, department, and relevant professional communities

To be considered for the Associate Professor with Tenure position, required qualifications further include: Evidence of a sustained research trajectory and evidence of funded research activity; Experience in developing or expanding course offerings in designing and developing immersive teaching and learning environments; and evidence of leadership at the university and/ or national level.

Preferences

  • Demonstrated teaching breadth that includes instructional design foundations and best practices, technology integration practices, and interaction and engagement theories and principles

  • Funded grant writing experience
